Growing demand drives increase in points for courses at NUI Maynooth

NUI Maynooth has today reported an increase in Leaving Cert points required for entry to the majority of its courses. The points have been driven upwards by the increasing number of applications, with the University recording it’s highest ever number of applicants this year.

In particular, there has been strong demand for degrees in Science, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Chemistry. Commenting on the numbers, John McGinnity, Asst Registrar said that “NUI Maynooth has received the highest ever number of first preference applications this year, which has resulted in increased points for courses. The University is also increasing the number of places made available to students by 6%. 

NUI Maynooth has also registered a strong increase in demand for its degrees in Arts, Media Studies, Business & Management and Finance & Accounting courses.
